The Astra Ring brings together two particularly special types of gemstone in a cluster formation: Australian sapphires and Ocean Diamonds, selected for both their individual character and their traceable origins.

The ring features a total of 0.86ct of aqua-to-green sapphires from Central Queensland, Australia. Australian sapphires are known for their distinctive natural colour variations, and these stones have soft, watery blue-green tones that sit beautifully alongside the crisp sparkle of the surrounding white Ocean Diamonds.

The 0.10ct of diamonds are Ocean Diamonds, naturally occurring diamonds collected by divers from the seabed off the coast of South Africa. Their unusual provenance makes them a distinctive and thoughtfully sourced choice for this design.

The ring is made entirely by hand in the Shimell and Madden London studio from recycled 18ct yellow gold. A soft satin finish provides a subtle contrast to the light and colour of the gemstones.

The band measures approximately 1.5mm wide, and the cluster is slightly elevated from the finger, allowing a wedding band or another ring to sit neatly underneath. This makes the Astra particularly well suited to being worn as part of a ring stack.

This ring is currently a size L and can be adjusted free of charge to any size between I and N. Simply include your desired size at checkout. Resizing will be completed within the standard 1–2 week delivery window.

Rings can be made in half and quarter sizes. We can also make to alternative sizing scales (US/EU).

Every piece is handmade by us in our London studio using traditional goldsmithing techniques.

We use certified recycled gold as standard. Our refiners use closed loop processing and are regulated by the Responsible Jewellery Council.

Gemstones are sourced through our trusted and accredited partners. Where full traceability is available it will be listed in the product description.

All diamonds are ‘conflict-free’ and our suppliers adhere to the Kimberley Process.

Exterior packaging and filling is fully recyclable.

As we make everything from scratch almost every element of a piece can be adjusted or customised.

Rings and bands can be made to any width, depth or shape/profile. All pieces can be made in 18ct yellow, white and rose gold (unless OOAK). Platinum and palladium is only available in solid bands 3mm and above.

There are three options of finishes on our jewellery; heavily textured, soft satin and highly polished. Please get in touch if you'd like a different finish applied, depending on the complexity of the piece there maybe an additional charge.

We can source alternative gemstones in different colours or cuts (shapes).

White diamonds are available in a variety of varying qualities and we are able to collate a few options to choose from if required.

If you are looking for a certified ethical or more environmentally friendly option then we can offer fully traceable diamonds and sapphires, but bear in mind there will be more limited options.
