This design also combines the world’s hardest gemstone and also the world’s toughest. Diamond is widely known as the hardest natural material, but jadeite is actually the toughest. Jadeite toughness comes from the displaced and interwoven particles, making it very impact resistant which is why it is often used for carving. Diamond on the other hand has very ordered symmetrical alignments of molecules making it very hard, but this rigidness also makes it brittle, so it can crack if hit with force.
